Between the 1500s and 1800s, approximately 1,000 individuals were accused of witchcraft in Essex. Many of those accused spent time detained at Colchester Castle while awaiting their fate. The allegations were diverse encompassing claims of utilizing animal familiars to harm and participating in clandestine meetings to read from esoteric texts. This period heightened fear and superstition that characterized society at the time.

Manuden Village Community Centre

New venue 2027
We're delighted to be bringing The Shared Path to the beautiful Manuden Village Community Centre, a modern, spacious venue set in one of Essex's most charming historic villages.

The village of Manuden, recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, is rich in history
and surrounded by beautiful countryside, ancient hedgerows and traditional English charm.
It's a place where heritage and community come together, perfectly reflecting the spirit of
The Shared Path.
Conveniently located just minutes from Bishop's Stortford and the M11, the venue is easy to reach while still offering the peace and character of a traditional village.
We can't think of a more fitting place to begin this exciting new chapter for Earth Spirit Events.
Opened in 2014 as the heart of the local community, the centre offers bright, flexible indoor spaces, excellent free parking and attractive green surroundings, making it the perfect setting for a day of inspiration, learning and connection.

Woodbridge lies along the River Deben, and about 8 miles from the coast. It is associated with the most important Anglo Saxon site in the UK; Sutton Hoo. Chronicled most recently in the Netflix series ‘The Dig’, in 1938-39 archeologists unearthed an Anglo Saxon ship burial with a wealth of artefacts, most iconic of which- the Sutton Hoo helmet- now reside in the British Museum.
